Fredrik Schaufelberger is assistant professor of supramolecular nanochemistry at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He obtained his undergraduate degree from at KTH and ETH Zürich (2007-2012), followed by PhD studies at KTH in the area of supramolecular and dynamic covalent chemistry (with Olof Ramström). Following his dissertation, he moved to the group of David A. Leigh at the Univerity of Manchester with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (2017-2020). In Manchester, he was studying functional molecular knots and chemically fuelled molecular assemblies such as rotaxanes. After a research stay with Molly M. Stevens at Imperial College London (2020-2021), where he was working on biosensing and drug delivery, he took up his current position. In his spare time, he loves to hang out with his family, read pretentious novels and play video games (especially 16-bit japanese role-playing games).

Anja Ramström is Phd student in the group since august 2022. She previously studied the MSc program in Molecular Science and Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and she did her MSc thesis in the group in spring 2022 on luminescent rotaxanes as reported molecular for biosensing. Her PhD research is based on investigations on the interface between artificial molecular machines and biological systems. Her research interests are synthetic organic chemistry for molecular machine synthesis and luminescence spectroscopy. In her spare time, she plays soccer, hang out with friends and play computer games.

Jingjing Yu is a postdoctoral researcher in the group since february 2022, working on the development of new ways to make biocompatible polyrotaxane materials. Jingjing earned his BSc at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, followed by a PhD under the supervision of prof. Dahui Qu at East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) from 2014-2019, where he studied the applications of molecular machines with supramolecular polymers. He next moved on to a postdoc with Dr. Jianwei Li at the University of Turku (Finland), working on supramolecular biomaterials based on coacervates. In his spare time, he loves to go hiking, play table tennis and go swimming.

Marius Gaedke is a postdoctoral researcher in the group since march 2022 supported by an Olle Engkvist fellowship. He is working on switchable rotaxanes in water and biorelevant media. Marius earned his doctorate at Freie Universität Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Christoph A. Schalley from 2016-2021, where he worked on redox-active crown/ammonium rotaxanes. In his spare time he likes to go hiking with his wife, dives into the world of finance and plays video/board games.

Daisy Pooler has been a postdoctoral researcher in the group since November 2023, working on biocompatible molecular machines. She received her MChem degree from the University of Manchester (UK) in 2018, where she studied chemically-fuelled molecular walkers in the group of Prof. David Leigh (and where she also met Fredrik). She then joined the group of Prof. Ben L. Feringa at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands) as a PhD student, working on heterocyclic light-driven rotary molecular motors. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, cycling, and playing on her Nintendo Switch.

Ming-Tai Lee has been a MSc student in the group since January 2024, working on boronic acid-templated interlocked molecules. He was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and received his Bachelor's degrees in Yang-Ming Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan. For his BSc thesis he worked on the synthesis of polymeric donor materials for solar cells. In his spare time, he likes to read, go hiking and do gardening!

Stan van Dooren is a BSc intern in the group since January 2024, working on biocompatible molecular machines. He is doing his exchange studies from Avans University of Applied Sciences, and he has previous experience working on carbohydrate chemistry at Utrecht university. He is a big synthesis lover and an organic chemist at heart. Outside of the lab he enjoys reading, playing video games and mountain biking.

Huseynagha Abasov is a BSc intern in the group since June 2024, working on biosensing rotaxanes. He is doing his exchange studies from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, and he has previous experience working on optoelectronci materials at his home university. Outside of the lab, Huseyn enjoys playing chess, blogging about Eurovision and cooking.
